Advantages of the Squat posture for emptying the Bowel

Straining can lead to a build up of pressures around the one way Ileocecal valve which opens to allow the flow of contents from the ileum into the Cecum. These pressures often cause the valve to open up in the wrong direction and allow back flow of contents from the Cecum into the ileum. The Cecum is a huge reservoir of bacteria and other microorganisms and the entry of bacteria or yeast into the ileum can cause infection of the small intestine. Removal of the need to strain avoids this problem.
