Babies are born with squatting facets but they usually disappear over time if that person does not habitually squat as he or she grows older, because of remoulding of the bone.

We are born with the ability to squat. Toddlers are able to squat and do so until we interfere with nature and train them to abandon this natural posture by placing then on a potty and then a raised toilet seat.

Wasting and atrophy of the muscles and squatting facets from not using them regularly leads to losing the ability to squat.

You cannot learn or regain the ability to squat at an advanced age due to loss of the muscles necessary to achieve this posture.
